Oceania is at war with either one of Eastasia or Eurasia at all times. The only references to the exterior world for the citizens of Oceania (the Outer Party and the Proles) are Minitrue maps and propaganda ensuring their belief in “the war”. A large part of Africa and some of Asia is Disputed area, with the three superpowers constantly at war to get it.
